Chief executive Corina Jordan will continue to lead both the Game Animal Council (GAC) and Fish & Game New Zealand throughout 2026 under an extended secondment agreement.

Jordan, who was chief executive of Fish & Game from 2022 to 2025, joined GAC in September 2025 and was seconded part-time to Fish & Game to provide strategic leadership through the implementation of legislative changes to reform Fish & Game.

New Zealand Fish and Game Council chair Barrie Barnes said the secondment arrangement between the two statutory bodies, which was due to end on 31 August, had now been extended until the end of the year.

Fish & Game New Zealand has also begun recruiting for a full-time chief executive, with the aim of having the new CEO in place by the start of January 2027. Jordan will continue to be seconded from the GAC until 31 December.

“Over the last nine months, Corina has represented both organisations with dedication and professionalism, delivering on the expectations of the secondment agreement while continuing to meet the requirements of her GAC role,” Barnes said.

“The secondment agreement with the GAC has enabled Corina to work with us on a shared-time basis, providing strategic leadership and continuity, supporting the organisation through the Fish & Game reform process, contributing to national legislative change processes such as resource management law changes, and maintaining and building key relationships.

“That is why we are pleased she is able to continue in this role. We appreciate the GAC agreeing to the extension.”

Matt Clarke, chair of the Game Animal Council, said GAC is pleased to support the extension.

“Corina has made a strong contribution to both organisations, and we know how valuable her leadership and sector knowledge are to Fish & Game as it works through this important period of reform.

“We are pleased to support Fish & Game to deliver positive outcomes for hunters and anglers.  Deepening the relationship between the two organisations has been great for the hunting sector and the extended secondment will provide useful continuity while Fish & Game recruit their next CEO.”
